As a long-time patient of Dr. Catalina, I was excited for the chance to design the image of her new chiropractic project. I loved working with Dr. Catalina to create designs that were timeless, versatile and authentic by capturing the essence of her practice: serenity and patience.
In May 2023, I designed a logo and three icons: a cervical and a thoracic vertebrate, and a wave. They are hand-drawn illustrations made on Procreate. The typography for the logo is inspired by the fluidity of the Arabic script and I used anatomical drawings of vertebras as models for my illustrations of the icons. As you scroll down you will see first these illustrations, then, a set of seven icons I made in November 2023 and finally two physical art-works I painted while visiting Costa Rica in January 2024.
The Chakras Icon Illustrations
Five months after designing the logo, I was asked to create icons that would be used for social media. These designs were also used on merchandise.
“aMar hasta los huesos” XP 2024
Acrylic on raw wood. This decorative art work is part of Dr. Catalina's adjustment room. Check out the process video bellow :)
"Digital ~turned~ Physical" XP 2024
Acrylic on a reused wooden sign. This second-hand sign now hangs in the entrance of the clinic, greeting people with the calming presence of a deep blue "aMar" and sending them off with the grounding image of connecting our bodies directly to the earth.  I loved bringing these designs to life. Something about using a brush and paint that gives the work a deeper meaning. Creates a deeper connection. I’ve always found it a more gratifying and enriching process.
Digitally, mistakes are easily reversed and perfection seems near. Physically, a mistake cannot be erased ~ only adapted in the way the artist feels is meant. Perfection exists only in expectations.
