XP 2022
For Christmas 2022 I got my grandmother for Secret Santa. I had just bought 5 meters of raw canvas at the art store and it was the perfect opportunity to gift my grandma the grandiose present she deserved. I planned to do an abstract landscape, but only really planned the shapes of the sun at the top and the water on the left. The rest of the shapes were free-handed with little previous thought. When working with this technique of lots of water and acrylic paint on raw canvas it is best to not have strict expectations about the outcome because, as most of us know, water has a life of its own and it is not the easiest to control. However, I quickly learned how to let go of control and play with the water instead. I was even able to include some smooth gradients. The phrases in Spanish that are spread throughout the painting are excerpts taken from a 15-page memoir about my grandmother's life, that she wrote earlier that year. This was also my first big canvas where I included noodlppl.
I believe this is my most unique way of painting and I can't wait to expand my skills with this style in the future.
